[Seoul Economic Daily] CoVillage Goseong, which creates senior-targeted wellness rental housing in Goseong County, Gangwon Province, has secured a letter of commitment (LOC) from Bomee Construction and electric vehicle charging company Chaebi. CoVillage Company, the project executor, plans to apply for a regional revitalization investment fund this month after confirming Gangwon Province's intention to participate.
According to CoVillage Company on the 4th, CoVillage Goseong is a rental housing complex of approximately 300 units with a total project cost of approximately 140 billion won to be constructed in Toseong-myeon, Goseong County. Targeting active seniors in their 50s and 60s, it aims to provide health, asset management, artificial intelligence (AI) education, and community programs, with the goal of starting operations in 2029.
CoVillage Company, a joint venture between HOMES Company and Gansam Architects & Partners, explained that securing this investment commitment marks the final stage of private investment attraction. The plan is to raise approximately 20% of the total project cost as equity through private investment and a regional revitalization investment fund.
The company stated that it completed the business permit in April and is currently awaiting a confirmation letter from Gangwon Province regarding their intention to participate. Once the letter is secured, the application process will commence.
Bomee Construction, which joined as a business partner in June, has submitted an investment commitment letter and will also participate as a construction company. Chaebi plans to participate in building electric vehicle charging facilities and solar infrastructure within the complex.
CoVillage Company expects that the residential model, where metropolitan seniors stay for several months, will also contribute to local market consumption and job creation.
Jae-woo Lee, CEO of CoVillage Company, said, "Following the completion of the permit and securing investment commitments from strategic investors, the private sector's preparations for the project have essentially been finalized. We will apply for a regional revitalization investment fund as soon as Gangwon Province confirms their intention."
